Flashback Friday: The worst injury I've ever had....

In my 50 Things About Me post I stated the worst injury I've ever had was when I fell off a bunk bed one New Years and had a large bruise for over a year. Thinking back though is is no where near the worst injury I've had. When I was in 5th grade...so like 11 years old I was visiting my grandparents w/ my family. My grandparents live out on 10 acres of desert so we drove around on anything with wheels. For a while they had this small tractor that would have been used for a large garden. My sister and I had fun sitting on the front while someone drove. This particular time I was on the front and my mother was driving. To this day I'm still not sure how this happened because my mom is the most careful person I've ever met. On one of the dirt road there's a fork leading to another road and my mom decided to quickly take the fork. Well I wasn't prepared for the turn and I fell off the tractor. Not a huge fall but of course then the tractor RAN ME OVER! I still remember the feeling of the wheel going over my head. I remember trying to stand up after and my mom pulling me back down to the ground. My aunt picked me up in her car and they drove me to the hospital. The one thing I remember about the hospital was that they had to CUT my favorite shirt off of me. I remember the shirt was a birthday gift from Daniel Usher. In the end what could have been a total nightmare ended up not being that big a deal. I don't think I even missed any school. I broke my shoulder blade but only wore a sling on my left arm for it. My left arm is weak to this day. I remember feeling so cool going to school with a sling. I think I was a morbid child.

Tackle It Tuesday: shockingly I'm cleaning!!!!

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

Today is a weird day for me. I picked up a shift at work this morning and worked until noon. Then I ran to the bank to deposit a check. When I got home I gave myself a facial and paid my water bill. I've been sick with a sinus infection for a while so I'm not feeling the greatest and the right side of my face feels like I've been battered. So I'm slowly doing some laundry, vacuuming the floor, and taking care of some emails and paperwork. I desperately need to do the dishes. After my great last week of keeping my sink clean so far this week I am sucking BIG TIME! It doesn't help that our fridge is broken so I've had that mess to deal with as well. And let me add a tiny rant here. I'm not the only FRIGGIN person who makes messes around here! So that's it. I'm slowly plugging away but I don't have anything great to show for it. Oh and I was hoping to do my exersize video but I can't find that either. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

200th POST!

And I don't have ANYTHING to write about! I was all excited and even waited a day so I could come up w/ something great and well....NOTHING. It doesn't help that I've got a HORRIBLE sinus headache. And I've got this aweful dry spot in the back of my throat the catches and makes me cough like a maniac which in turns makes my head feel like it's going to explode. Seems everyone is sick although mine is more allergy related. My mom's sick, Cori's sick , friends (Mo, Rob, Maurice), oh and my son has a cough. So since I have "Jack Schitt" to write about in the commemorative post I'll re-post a cute email about "Jack Schitt".

We find ourselves at a loss when someone says, 'You don't know Jack Schitt!' Well, thanks to my genealogy efforts, you can now respond in an intellectual way.

Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt. Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, married O. Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt, Inc. They had one son, Jack.

In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull Schitt, and the twins Deep Schittand Dip Schitt.

Against her parents' objections, Deep Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout. After being married 15 years,Jack and Noe Schitt divorced. Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt-Sherlock.

Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt, and they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chicken Schitt. Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt, were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony. The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens nuptials. The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Horse.

Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt.

Now when someone says, 'You don't know Jack Schitt,' you can correct them.

Sincerely, Crock O. Schitt

OH!

And to top off a really great day I've realized that I've been able to keep up on my dishes for an ENTIRE WEEK! This is huge for me (those of you w/ no children can stop rolling your eyes now).

The shopping gods are smiling down today!

I walked into Goodwill today thinking that it would be really great to find something fabulous in a zebra print. Well sure enough the Universe answered and I found a FABULOUS feels-like-it's-made-for-me cream and black zebra print skirt and a great black top to go with it! And to top it off I had a store credit so that outfit ended up costing me THIRTEEN CENTS!!!!!!

I am unorganized!

It's something I've accepted as just the way I am. It still irritates me on occaision though.

Flashback Friday

This is a funny flashback Friday for me because the kids are so different now. Especially Georgia. She's still sweet, but she's also the orneriest thing on the planet. Cori is still singing her head off. She's actually watching High School Musical right now and belting all the songs out. Recently her music teacher RAVED about her voice. Ethan is still a monster at home and a gentleman in public. I know, there are worse problems to have. He's no longer afraid of the water either. They're all driving me nuts today! It's raining so they can't go out and they're just sitting and annoying each other. Especially Ethan and Georgia. This email is from June 30, 2006.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Can you tell I've been busy? Here it is, the last day of June, and I'm just NOW getting our family update out! Oh well, at least I've done it and I can say I've successfully kept my New Years resolution for 6 months. That's some kind of record! We just got back from getting family pictures done. That was some kind of feat! The pictures are not as cute as I would have liked but we just could not get all the kids to smile at the same time! Oh well, I guess it shows the "real" them!

Allen has been working a lot of hours because summer is his busy time. He's still looking for a new job (so if you know of any let me know!). He is still tired all the time. He got a machine to sleep with that is supposed to help him breath but it does not work right and he hasn't called the Dr to get it fixed. Very irritating for the person who has to sleep in the same room with him!

I'm doing the same ol' things. I'm still teaching Coupon$ense classes and just recently signed an instructor under me. Our stockpile of food, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products is RIDICULOUS! I just recently got a Scooba, which is a robotic mopper that is the sister the the Roomba. I LOVE IT! If something ever happens to Allen I'm going to marry it! It has absolutely saved me! I'm planning a piano recital for the end of July and I'm really looking forward to it. I will have 4 of my students playing in it!

Cori has been in Summer School this month and is absolutely doing awesome. They had a performance last night that was Patriotic themed. She's been singing God Bless America and Yankee Doodle all month. She has this incredible vibrato that I've never heard before in a 5YO! I think she takes after me! We'll be singing duets soon I'm sure!

Ethan did swim lessons and is doing so well! He's developed a little bit of a fear of the water, which he never had before but he'll get over that soon. He's a little fish so having fear is probably safer for the dare devil. Ethan is still doing Speech Therapy and just recently started Occupational Therapy. I love this boy to death but he is driving me crazy! I'm having a lot of issues with him that have to do with his sensory disorder which just compound his bad behavior. The thing that makes me most angry, is when we're in public he is the sweetest most polite boy. He thanks people for EVERYTHING. At home he pretty much screams at me all day. We've been doing a lot of time out. I'm working on it one day at a time. I just hope he lives to see 4.

Photobucket

Georgia is still the sweetest thing in the planet! I can't believe she's already 11 months! She is so bright! She FINALLY got one tooth and is working on another. She copies sounds so well it sounds like she's talking. She's like a little parrot! She is so expressive with body language as well. She's able to tell me what she needs by a look or a point. It's amazing! She's a chunky little thing but she's smaller than the other two were at this age. She's got more hair than Cori did too, so that's a good sign! My mom is always saying how much she reminds her of me when I was a baby.

Worst Culinary Disaster

What was your worst culinary disaster?

I'm afraid they're all pretty disasterous. I am a distracted, bored, frustrated cook (in that order). The reason I'm not asked to bring anything to Thanksgiving dinner is because at my first I BURNED "steamed brocolli". Whenever I see cooking shows or recipes I have these grand desires to make something really fantastic. I get going and then the distracted sets in. I find it IMPOSSIBLE to NOT mult-task. So I must be folding laundry or something else while I'm cooking. Not a great idea. Then the bored sets in. There's only so much stiring I can do before I'm bored to tears. Once these two things have set in is when the meal starts getting disasterous. Thus comes the frustration and generally only a 1/2 edible meal. So yeah Culinary Disaster could be my middle name!

A Poem I Like

A faintish journey do I make
As through this frazzled world I wind,
With heavy heart and weary steps,
But with determined mind.

Beseech I for a flicker of
The faith than can a mountain move,
And hold that tenet close to me,
Believing where I cannot prove.

The pow’r that comes when sinking low
To man who grasps for straw or rope,
Will clutch til has he breath no more
For where there’s life, there’s hope.

If my good turn be given to
My fellow man’s deficiency,
I’ll try to share my lowly gifts
Of Faith and Hope and Charity.

Tackle It Tuesday: You guessed it, more cleaning!

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

If you don't have children but are planning on having them someday I suggest you stop reading now. What you are about to see is what my house looks like on a DAILY basis. Even the after photos below only stayed that way for a little while. Not an hour later there was more laundry on the couch to be folded. There are already more dirty dishes in the sink and there are legos all over the rug. At least the legos aren't greasy! So I guess I have some more work to do!

Barack Is my Candidate

And if anyone tells my grandpa then they will have ME to reckon with. I was raised very Conservative but have grown more and more middle ground. I have very strong views but they jump between the right and left pretty quickly. The paper in my town (Phoenix, AZ) is VERY Democratic and slants that way WAY too much IMO. If I didn't need the coupons out of the Sunday paper I wouldn't subscribe to it at all. I don't know what America NEEDS, but I do know that Americans WANT change. So I believe a Deomcratic president is inevitable. I believe Barack is the lesser of two evils. I'm not sure America can handle another Clinton administration.

A good friend of mine pointed out the other day that America's hesitation w/ Barak may be the fact that he doesn't identify w/ a Christian religion and that may be the appeal of Hilary. But if it's Christian "values" that America is looking for then we better look away from the Clinton's QUICK! It's OBVIOUS that they have no integrity. How can we put our trust and faith into people like that?

I wish I had more time to read. Several of Barack's books look very interesting and I'm sure that would give me more insite into his ideas. I'm kicking myself for not getting into this race sooner. I'm now craving more information than I can possibly get by November! I'm going to be spending time on Barack's official website today!

I read another interesting blog posting on this same subject today. It seems everyone is thinking about the same thing. Read more thoughts at It’s a Blog Eat Blog World

Manic Monday: Heart

Photobucket

It should be no surprise that the first thing I think of would be MUSIC! So I was all ready to post lyrics to one of Heart's songs. Then I started thinking a little deeper and remembered my grandpa had open heart surgery this time last year. I spent a month living with him and taking care of him. I am happy to report that he's doing pretty well for an 87 year old man who got cut open a year ago! Sadly I don't have many recent pictures of him. We just haven't gone out to see them as much this past year. It's a long drive and he gets tired quickly. This is the ONE picture I found of him from back in October.

Flashback Friday

This is an email sent out to my mom's group on October 15, 2005. I remember this day very clearly. The day or two before Ethan had gotten ahold of two small cans of black paint I was using to refinish my china cabinet. I THINK he left them out in the sun or something because they EXPLODED! Thank goodness it was out in the dirt, but Ethan was still covered in black paint as was everything he touched. Then on this day he had gotten into orange paint in the house. Thank goodness it was water soluable. OH and this reminds me of something else that happened within a couple days of these incidents. I had a TON of eggs in the fridge and Ethan apparantly decided to make some breakfast. As I recall it was something like 7 DOZEN eggs all over the floor! There are days when I curse my tile (like today) but there are days when I'm SO glad we don't have carpet!

Email to moms group October 15, 2005:
And the saga continues. Today it was orange paint! By the time he was done he and the tile looked like a pumkin! Thank heavens it was water-soluable and was easy to clean, but that kid is going to get one of us killed! I'm either going to kill him or kill myself! ARG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And my husband said to me "well, what were you doing?" The only reply I could muster was "oh, in the bathtub taking a leisurely bubble bath, w/ some scented candles, and champaign....WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK I WAS DOING!?!?" In actuality I was taking my ritual "spritz". Mothers no longer get "showers". I don't even wait for the water to warm up anymore! I just jump in, freeze my A&& off for a few 2nds, shampoo OR condition my hair (I don't have time to do both), jump out of the shower, throw my towell around me and run down the hall to check on the kids! "It only takes a second" doesn't only mean swimming pools and drowning, it's 2YOs in general! It's gonna take something harder than calgon to take ME away!

Gigi

My greatest fear is that there is no PMS and this is my personality!

And here are pics of the kids around Easter time 2005. 2005 was the year my harddrive crashed so I don't have many pics from that year. Very sad!

MyPoints.com

Have you ever heard of the website, Mypoints??? I have been a member for a couple of years now and love it. You sign up for free! And you start to receive BonusMail which are emails about websites like Netflix or Equifax. For each email that you simply OPEN you get 5 points. Another way to earn points is by shopping online. Always start from the Mypoints website and you can earn points for shopping online at places like eBay, Overstock, Kohls, Sephora... You then turn the points into gift cards. That's it. Easy as 1-2-3. I've gotten so many gift cards I can't really remember how much I've earned anymore. Sound like fun? I can get points for making referrals, and you can get points for joining and completing a profile. Its a win-win. So leave your email in the comments and I will send you the referral info! We both can earn great gift cards, did I mention you can get GC for places like Walmart, Red Lobster, Cracker Barrel and other great places.

I'm so mad that I didn't take a before picture this AM! My friend Sara came over EARLY this AM to use my computer. Perfect opportunity to make my lazy ass get out of bed and get something done. My "great room" irritates me because I just don't know how to furnish it or arrange things. Well I got a bit of inspiration last night to move the big chairs around a little. The area still needs some work and obviously I haven't totally conqured the clutter but I'm happy w/ the progress for today. Here are the "after" pictures. Oh and the computer was Cori and Ethan's b-day gift from their dad! So glad to have my computer back!

Happy Birthday Cori and Ethan

Photobucket

Today was Cori and Ethan's b-day party and I am a lame mom. I didn't want to deal w/ a bunch of kids or all the presents so I told the kids they could only invite one person each. Well their friends didn't show up! Cori was disapointed. Ethan couldn't have cared less.

We went swimming at my pool of course. They had lots of fun as usual.

Cori got a High School Musical shirt and a High School Musical dance game.

Ethan got a Mater toy and a Policeman costume. The kids also got a computer from their dad. Cori will soon be learning how to download her photos from her digital camera and blogging. And I'm just happy to have my computer back!

I've learned my lesson. I'll just bite the bullet next year and let them invite a bunch of people that way at least SOMEONE will show up! LOL I don't know what I'm complaining about. Cori and Ethan's b-days are only two weeks apart so for at least a while I'll be able to do just one party for them. And thankfully Georgia won't need anything more than a family party for the next couple years!

Saturday 9: Sweet Dreams are Made of These

1. Do you ever have trouble sleeping?
I'm a bit of an insomniac. But if I go to bed late I sleep pretty well.

Well the day is mostly over. I worked this morning then had the kids b-day party and tonight I'm hanging w/ a friend.

I have no idea....I don't watch much tv.

Yup, to BYU back when they took all return missionaries w/out question.

Someone who is a neat freak so it would encourage me to be neat too!

Flashback Friday

And here we are at another addition of Flashback Friday. The beautiful thing about this email I saved is although I haven't mastered the "clean house" I do believe I know myself MUCH better. I'm still searching which will be a life long journey I'm sure but I definitely have a better picture of me.

Email I sent October 4, 2005:
I've really been thinking about this and trying to nail down my most basic struggles. Besides "everything" which is what I thought of at first, I know my struggles are that of most SAHMs. I have 3 kids under 5, an infant who takes extra care, a husband who is in school, and A LOT on my plate! My most basic struggle is w/ the daily stuff. The stuff that HAS to be done in order for the house to stay in a "company ready state". It seems like I will do the dishes, or pick up the living room floor, and turn around 5 minutes later and I need to do those things all over again! I've spent the last 2 days doing laundry because I was behind and had some extra to do. Well, the laundry is done, but nothing else! I have 4 or 5 really bad hotspots. I try to go through them daily, but just don't have the time! It's another one of those things that seems to flare up once I turn my back! Dirving Cori to school and picking her up are taking a toll on me and I know my "taxi" job is only going to get worse as my kids get older! I am completely unorganized w/ my schedule. I have yet to find a planner/daytimer that works for me. I'm afraid to make a "to-do list" for fear it would be a mile long! I'll admit part of my personality has a "if I can't do it perfectly, why do it at all" quirk. I have had the fact that I am not perfect seared into my brain my whole life so badly that I've given up! My mom was talking to me the other day about HER need for perfection (she's the one who has told me how imperfect I am, and she gets if from her father and the fact that she was molested as a child) and her trying to have ONE perfect thing (even if that perfect thing is her sock drawer). I said flat out to her that I was not going to EVER be that perfect thing in her life. Now, that is true, since no one is perfect, however it shows what a low opinion I have of myself! I've tried to watch the couples Starting Over, and there is one gal who reminds me of ME! I can't remember her name, but she's the young dark haired girl who doesn't know what she wants to do w/ her life and feels pressure from her family and boyfriend to pick a profession. She admits that she spends most of her time trying to appear perfect and doesn't really know who she is. I realized that that is ME! I don't know WHO I am! I used to have a lot of interests/talents but kind of lost those things in my fog of depression that started at the end of my junior year. I'm still not out of that fog and that fog sometimes lets me do REALLY STUPID things! I'm listening to Dr Phil's "Self Matters" in hopes that I can learn to find my "authentic self". I really don't even know what that is, or how to go about finding it. Basically, I'm depressed and don't know how to get myself out of it! The prozac doesn't seem to help (well, I don't have the urge to kill my husband, kids, or myself so it is doing SOMETHING). Allen and I are in marriage counceling. We've had 2 sessions and both times we were both on our "best behavior". The councelor picked up on that and is trying to draw the problems out of us, but it's so frustrating. There are times when I am HOPPING MAD at that man, but I get over it so easily that I can't really remember what I'm upset about when we get to the councelor. So there's my input! I could go on and on and on and on and on.....about all my quirks (I have a lot of them) but I won't bore you!
